Jaguars plant 100 Ghaf trees dedicated to Climate Action for Peace

We are proud of our Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students (our Jaguars) who planted 100 Ghaf trees in Dubai on September 21, 2019, with the support of the Give a Ghaf Foundation and the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment.

We are proud of our Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students (our Jaguars) who planted 100 Ghaf trees in Dubai on September 21, 2019, with the support of the Give a Ghaf Foundation and the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment.

Climate change is a direct contributor to poverty, conflict and war. People are struggling to survive, and millions are being affected and displaced by climate change. Conducted on the UN International Day for Peace, the plantation was dedicated to Climate Action for Peace. This is a milestone for our Student Sustainability & CSR Club as they worked together to take action and make a difference.

Here’s to doing more and instilling a social entrepreneur among our student body.

What’s the significance of Ghaf trees?

The Ghaf tree is the National Tree of the UAE and is now a symbol of the Year of Tolerance. It survives in arid conditions by sinking its roots deep into the soil to reach aquifers other plants cannot.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, had tweeted:

“Tolerance is a universal value, and Ghaf is our authentic national tree, a source of life and symbol of stability in the middle of the desert. Under its shadows, our ancestors gathered to consult on matters related to their daily lives. In the Year of Tolerance, we chose the Ghaf as a logo for all of us to live by the principles of tolerance, coexistence and diversity.”
