The DBA program builds on the business acumen of previously undertaken graduate studies, using global intelligence as a focus to equip graduates with the skills needed to solve business problems, regardless of the context. It inspires you to develop new perspectives and approach business in a unique and innovative way; it offers you the opportunity to study a real business issue in depth and then immediately apply that knowledge in your working life, directly improving commercial outcomes within your organisation and beyond.

Global intelligence here is to acknowledge and learn that some researching issues are common across geographies and others are specific to geographies. The way research is conducted is different across geographies. Students have the opportunity to learn these in the classroom, so that they develop a global outlook to identifying researchable issues of interest to businesses in different geographies and find solutions using appropriate researching tools.

A doctoral degree adds immense prestige to a candidate’s profile and is much coveted. DBA graduates can expect senior-level career opportunities in banks, government, education, and almost all sectors. The program gives individuals a professional edge in the marketplace and invariably enhances employability. Given that Asia is on a rapid growth path this qualification will help graduates get top jobs.

In the last five years of our short but decorated twelve-year history, we have been ranked by three of the world’s top four business school rankings – Forbes, Financial Times and the Economist. In each of these rankings, we are the youngest school featured – an accomplishment we attribute to our unique and innovative model of business education.

The program commences with structured coursework designed to build research competencies, followed by a research project that applies those competencies to improve business practices or to add new practices.

  • The program can be completed in a part-time format.
  • The first year offers structured coursework assessed by examinations to prepare students to undertake a research project.
  • The coursework component comprises four courses, completed over four terms in a year: Research methodology and literature review, Case methodology and qualitative research, Statistical tools and techniques for research, and Research proposal and ethics. Learning is assessed during the course and by a final examination.
  • Under the guided supervision of an academic, students undertake a large research project over two years that significantly contributes to business practice. Upon completion, the thesis is sent to scholars who are experts in the field for examination.

All of the 4 Advanced Coursework (core subjects) must be completed in Year 1 of the program. Each subject has 40 contact hours and is taught over 5 weekends (4 hours per day). Students are given a week to prepare for an exam and a week’s break after the exam. It is thereby estimated that a course can be completed within 2 months. These courses are not inter-dependent, and are offered on a rolling basis.

Competencies and research skills are built using business simulations, practical exercises, videos, audios, case studies, and lively classroom discussions that draw on students’ prior work experiences for learning. Upon successful completion of the coursework component, a large research project is undertaken anywhere in the world. During this period, an academic with expertise in the research area provides guided supervision to students, by regularly having face-to-face and/or online meetings.

The academia at S P Jain encourage collaborative research across disciplines, industries and specialisms that contribute to the changing scenes in the business world. They regularly receive awards for the best research in top academic journals, and their research and opinions are cited by leading international media publications like Bloomberg, Forbes and BBC.

Our faculty’s repertoire of work is one of the top reasons why students choose to study at S P Jain.

If you are planning to accelerate your career in business, then you should seriously consider enrolling in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program offered by us. The School prides itself on the consistently high global reputation of its MBA programs, and as a business school ranked by Forbes, The Economist, and the Financial Times.

Understanding that business is conducted differently in various business segments such as different geographies and industries, through a structured curriculum, our industry-experienced academics take pride in sharing knowledge, experiences, and wisdom with students recognizing that global intelligence is the key to success in the 21st century.

DBA graduates can expect senior-level career opportunities in banks, government, education, and almost all sectors. A doctoral degree adds immense prestige to a candidate’s profile and is much coveted.  It gives individuals a professional edge in the marketplace and invariably enhances employability. Given that Asia is on a rapid growth path this qualification will help graduates get top jobs.

Global intelligence is a key focus of our DBA program. The program provides students with a structured coursework component in the first year that teaches skills to conduct a variety of research investigations. In the remaining two years, students will undertake a research project with practical significance, under the guided supervision of at least one academic staff member, which will aim to significantly add to or improve current business practices. Research can be undertaken anywhere in the world with the approval of the School, providing students with a truly global intelligence.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, any of our campuses, or inquire through our website. I am looking forward to meeting you in the future.
