ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR THE February 2025

A step-by-step guide

Admissions Process

STEP 1

ELIGIBILITY

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE

All applicants (domestic and international) will have an undergraduate degree from a recognised university or other approved tertiary institution.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Evidence of having worked after graduation on a full-time basis in a role which has been assessed by SP Jain as relevant to the course of study for a minimum period of 2 years.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants must have completed their education as detailed above in English and must provide certified evidence to the School.
  • In exceptional cases where an applicant is unable to provide certified evidence, the Admission Director may approve self-attested copies of the completion of education certification.
  • Applicants who have not completed their most recent education qualifications in English are required to take any of the following recognised formal English language tests and obtain currently valid minimum scores as below:

    • IELTS minimum score of 6.5
    • TOEFL iBT minimum score of 70
    • PTE minimum score of 60
  • International applicants (including those who have completed their most recent education qualifications in English) who are undertaking study at our Sydney campus may need to meet the English language test requirements detailed by the Australian Government to obtain their student visas. For more information, please click here.

English language test scores must be submitted on or before January 15, 2025 (for the February 2025 intake). Only test scores obtained in the last 2 years will be considered valid.

STEP 2

APPLICATION

  • Submit your application online.
  • Candidates only need to submit one application.
  • As a student of the GMBA program, you can either choose electives across different areas and develop a cross-functional perspective or specialise in any one functional area of management. You need not indicate your choice at the application stage; you may do so within a month after course commencement. Upon arrival on the campus, you will undergo a briefing by the dean of the program, area heads and members of the corporate relations team to help you make an informed decision.
  • If you do not desire placement services or are taking a leave of absence from your present employer (with a commitment to re-join them), mark the relevant box in the application form. Candidates accepted under ‘non-placements’ cannot change to ‘placement’ category.
  • Applications are considered on a rolling basis (i.e. evaluated when they are received); so, the sooner you apply, the better your chances are for being selected.

STEP 3

ENTRANCE TEST

APTITUDE/ENTRANCE TEST SCORE REQUIREMENTS

  • SP Jain requires candidates to take one of the following aptitude tests: GMAT, GRE, CAT (Common Admission Test – offered in India) or SPJAT (SP Jain Aptitude Test), and obtain the minimum expected test score as specified in the Postgraduate Admission and Selection Policy to be considered for admissions.

    • GMAT (Appeared in last 5 years)
    • GRE (Appeared in last 5 years)
    • CAT (Appeared in last 2 years)
    • SPJAT (Appeared in last 2 years)
  • Candidates may apply even if they have not yet taken the aptitude test, or if their scores are pending. However, candidates will not be shortlisted for evaluation until they submit final test scores. SP Jain accepts the best score from the stated tests.
  • Candidates who do not meet the aptitude test score requirements may be considered for interview subject to the decision of the Director of Admission/Registrar.
  • If you do not have a valid GMAT/GRE or CAT score, you may appear for the SPJAT. The registration fee payable would be USD 40.

STEP 4

EVALUATION & INTERVIEW

  • The School establishes a shortlist of potential applicants based on the following:

    • Past academic performance and other achievements
    • Past work experience
    • English language proficiency to ensure successful participation
    • Outcomes and scores of aptitude tests
  • All shortlisted applicants will be notified in writing by the School that their application has proceeded to the shortlist for admission.
  • As part of the final stage of applicant evaluation, all shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake:

    • An Essay and Case Analysis Discussion Paper
    • SP Jain "Business Creativity Test"
    • A personal interview at one of the School's campuses or online with a member of the School's academic staff. The interview is designed to assess the applicant's communication skills, analytical skills, aptitude and subject knowledge.
  • Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable evaluation fee of USD 50.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Does SP Jain require students to take an English language test?

All applicants must have completed their education in English and must provide certified evidence to the School.

Applicants who have not completed their most recent education qualifications in English are required to take any of the recognised formal English language tests and obtain currently valid minimum scores as listed in the Postgraduate Admission and Selection Policy.

International applicants (including those who have completed their most recent education qualifications in English) who are undertaking study at our Sydney campus may need to meet the English language test requirements detailed by the Australian Government to obtain their student visas. For more information, please click here.

Can I work and pursue the GMBA program at the same time or will I need to quit my job?

GMBA is a full-time program and does not permit you to work and study at the same time. If you have more than 2 years of work experience and wish to pursue a part-time MBA, you can apply for SP Jain’s Executive MBA.

I have applied for a passport but have not received it yet. Can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply. However, for the October 2024 intake, you need to have your passport in hand by August 10, 2024, as we need it to process your student visas.

Why is the GMBA program’s duration only one year, not two?

Our GMBA program is designed for professionals who wish to take as little time off as possible. While some MBAs are two-year programs, ours takes fewer holidays and compresses classes into a shorter period of time, covering the same material as two-year MBAs offered at other schools.

By when do I need to select my specialisation?

As a student of the GMBA program, you can either choose electives across different areas and develop a cross-functional perspective or specialise in any one functional area of management. You need not indicate your choice at the application stage; you may do so within a month after course commencement. Upon arrival on the campus, you will undergo a briefing by the dean of the program, area heads and members of the corporate relations team to help you make an informed decision.
