Business and Global Economy – Visiting Wisdom with Vinod Chandramouli

Global events and issues require global understanding to facilitate diverse perspectives and broaden your mindset. SP Jain School of Global Management invited Vinod Chandramouli, Head of Business, Asia and South East Asian Nations at Freshworks, to conduct a guest session on July 5, 2021, as part of the “Global Learning – Visiting Wisdom Series” for tomorrow’s global leaders, our Master of Global Business (MGB) cohort.

The session began with a welcome note presented by Aamani Navuluri, the representative for the MGB’21 Online batch in Global Learning and Student Life committee.

Mr Chandramouli possesses strong expertise in technology, leading large organisations and expanding territories, and he has been a crucial contributor along with his team for the growth of Freshworks as they worked on global presales and marketplace organisation. He had earlier led the Business Development for connected devices at Akamai Technologies. He has also worked with several entrepreneurial industries in developing and leveraging their internet and customer experience strategy.

Through his valuable experiences, he walked the students through the various challenges he faced while entering an international market, pertaining to market research, brand building, planning of sales and their execution for the range of products that Freshworks offers, and how with the right approach and right analysis they achieved their targets well within the timeline.

Mr Chandramouli also answered questions in the last part of the session and highlighted the need to analyse the roots of the business and envision the different set of targets, along with the challenges involved, based on the understanding of the market.

The session concluded on the note that knowledge is the real power that shines through in an individual and how global learning makes it more feasible owing to the experiences and exposure one gets.

The closure to this insightful session was given by Divyansh followed by an extension of gratitude for Mr Chandramouli by Dr Ritu Srivastava (Assistant Professor – Economics, SP Jain), under whose guidance the session was made successful.

Sharing her experience, Soumili Patra, our student from the MGB cohort, said, “It was an absolute pleasure to have Vinod Chandramouli as our guest speaker for Business & Global Economy. He provided us with some thoughtful insights into the South Asian market conditions. It was also fascinating to hear from him how Freshworks positioned itself as a brand amidst the pandemic challenges. Altogether, it was a great experience interacting and learning from him about different aspects of international business which leveraged me to upskill my knowledge.”
