SP Jain’s Dubai campus awarded 4-star rating by KHDA

SP Jain School of Global Management’s Dubai campus has been awarded a 4-star quality rating by Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in its first annual cycle of the Higher Education Classification. The rating has been granted for exhibiting excellent standards of education and demonstrating strengths across all categories including Core Criteria categories such as Learning Environment and Program Strength as well as Advanced Criteria categories, along with our graduate skill sets.

The KHDA published its first-ever quality ratings for 17 out of 25 international university branch campuses in Dubai on July 3, 2019. The results were unveiled by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai. The Higher Education Classification initiative has been developed by QS Stars in collaboration with KHDA and aligned with the QS Stars methodology used by many countries and education providers around the world.

Speaking about the recognition, Prof Christopher Abraham, Professor and Head of Campus (Dubai) – SP Jain School of Global Management, highlighted how the diversity of curricula, students and faculty is our key strength. “We lay a lot of emphasis on internationalisation, on diversity — we have 35 nationalities on campus. Student wellness is another area of focus for us; it’s not just academics,” he shared. Student “well-being” is one of the eight quality indicators evaluated in the rating system.

Prof Abraham added that the rankings will raise standards of higher education in Dubai. "Students would have a benchmark so they can know which one is appropriate and that is where rankings become relevant," he said.

SP Jain educates students from 30 countries and Prof Abraham believes the rankings could help many students, who have little knowledge about Dubai, make an informed decision before moving to the city. "It will be an eye-opener for many people who will come to know there are so many international campuses in Dubai. This will boost the position of UAE and Dubai as an education hub. For us, this will be a huge benchmark in terms of what we should be doing and the areas we need to improve in,” he added.

We are also pleased to share that our rating and Prof Abraham’s views have been featured in UAE’s leading media publications – Gulf News and The National.

We aim to continue to grow and create courses and curriculum that are relevant and modern, and craft global leaders of the 21st century.
