Panel Discussion

The conversations continued with an interactive panel discussion on ‘Building Successful Digital Enterprises’ moderated by Ms. Deepa Ranjeet, Senior General Manager - Digital, Mahindra and Mahindra (Strategy Group). Here are a few key takeaways from the panellists:

  • Mr. Abhishek Kothari, Co-Founder, FlexiLoans: “Digital is a commitment, not a fad. Impatience is the biggest impediment. Everything that an organisation needs to do to transform itself is to shun the quality of being impatient. And take this secret sauce from me for free - collect data. Even if you don't know what it means today. Data is going to be the new currency.”
  • Mr. Anil Goel, Vice President - Technology, Accenture: “Organisational success in India can lead to a lot of inertia. However, technology has provided platforms to cope at the same time. Learning is the biggest skill you can have today.”
  • Dr. Debashis Guha, Professor and Director - Machine Learning, SP Jain: “Learn to code in JavaScript, Python or any other language, especially the people who are starting out. Because learning to write code is a good mental exercise. It helps you think logically and develops your problem-solving skills.”
  • Mr. Geet Lulla, Managing Director - India, Middle East & Southeast Asia, Gracenote: “Fear of failure is what resists organisations to take up technological transition. But speed and acceleration is the new reality for technological transformation.”
  • Mr. Rajiv Singh, Head - Ad Sales and Monetization, Digital Business - SonyLiv: “Content is king. Everything else is a subset of it. And, speaking of data democratisation, the more transparent you are, the more successful you are.”
  • Dr. Uma Ganesh, Co-Founder & Director - 5F World, CEO - Global Talent Track: “A fundamental ability for problem-solving and articulation are some of the required skills in this digital age. One of the reasons for organisations not succeeding is the constant pressure to stay in the game. Partnerships and collaborations can become the key to their success.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Aslam Khan, CMD & CEO, Octaware Technologies and Executive Council Member - Pune, NASSCOM, where he spoke about redefining leadership for the digital age and why it is crucial for the leadership style to change from transformational to situational.
